PARK MADNESS 2024
Are you ready for an epic competition?! 32 of America’s most beautiful national parks are going head-to-head — which one will be the winner?
The winner of Park Madness 2024 will be announced on March 23rd at 5 p.m. MST.
STEP ONE: Fill out your Park Madness Bracket
This year, there is a Western Conference and an Eastern Conference, with the dividing line going straight down between Montana and North Dakota.
Sign up for your free bracket, and then fill it out with the parks you think should win each round.
STEP TWO: Vote for your favorite parks
After you’ve filled out your bracket, it’s time to vote! I will run voting rounds on Facebook and Instagram this year.
Head over to the Dirt In My Shoes Facebook Page to see each match-up.
Vote for your favorite parks by commenting directly on each Park Madness Facebook post. New match-ups will be released at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. MST each day.
Head over to the Dirt In My Shoes Instagram Page and click on the icon to see my stories.
Vote for your favorite parks by voting on my posted Instagram Stories. New match-ups will be released at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. MST each day.
To thank you for participating in Park Madness 2024, I WILL BE GIVING AWAY FREE NATIONAL PARK ITINERARIES. One commenter will be randomly selected and contacted each day!

STEP FOUR: Have fun
I’m so excited to join in on Park Madness with you! Bring it on — may the best national park win!
Edward Souza
Ash, it’s your Park versus mine. Good Luck 👍
Ash Nudd
Haha bring it on!
Tracy Hauserman
I only missed one correct in the first round. Wheeeeee!!!! 😁
Ash Nudd
Haha that’s awesome!
Tracy L Hauserman
Ready for this years!!!!! I’m also so ready to visit more of them. Got my bracket filled out today.
Ash Nudd
Yes! Thanks for playing!
Lisa
Feeling silly. The bracket is a PDF and I can’t fill it in. When I open it in Google it doesn’t look right. Not sure how to submit either?
Ash Nudd
Hey Lisa! You’ll need to print it out…it’s not a fillable PDF. And no need to submit it anywhere — you’ll just vote for your favorites on FB or Insta!
Patrick Sullivan
I don’t see Gateway Arch. Does it get an automatic ‘bye’ to round 2 since it’s such an overwhelming favorite?
Ash Nudd
Hahaha. I didn’t include that park this time around….I wish I had room to put them all!
Greg Pearson
Which park won last year’s East vs West?
Dirt In My Shoes
Yellowstone!
Edward Souza
Hopefully 2 of my favorites (Yosemite and Grand Tetons) go head to head in the finals. My vote goes to Yosemite for the win. Sorry that your favorite has to go up against mine, pending Grand Tetons wins against Olympic, which they should. Good Luck! 👍
Jay and Linda Slife
Ash, thanks for a few moments of diversion from our current world issues! We picked three of the final four as well as Yellowstone for the winner. Didn’t see Teton knocking off the Grand Canyon but definitely now on our bucket list along with Acadia.
Keep on hiking!
Dirt In My Shoes
Very cool! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. You should definitely get to Grand Teton and Acadia…those are some of the best. Safe travels!
Donna and Barry Wilson
Thank you so much for doing this. We have looked forward to this everyday. I will say it has not went the way I thought it would have. Never would have thought the last two left would be the last two. We have not been to Acadia or a few of the others but they are all on our list. God Bless You, Donna Wilson
Dirt In My Shoes
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for playing along!
mark
Grand Tetons beat the Grand Canyon ….really?
Dirt In My Shoes
Haha. Grand Teton is soooo amazing :)
Mark G Knox
Actually, Grand Canyon got bounced by Rocky Mountain in the second round. Tough loss. I had GC in the final 4 getting beat by Yosemite.
Ash Nudd
That was a tough matchup!
Bill Campbell
This sure has been a fun activity!! Hopefully we all can enjoy the parks again this summer!
Dirt In My Shoes
I think we will :)
Julie O’Neil
Thank you for bringing some fun in these challenging times. We are reminded of the beauty and resilience of this planet. Your positive attitude is infectious. I am praying that you are in your forever home soon.
Dirt In My Shoes
Thanks Julie!
Greg Pearson
Did anybody select all 16 in Round 1?
I missed 2.
Aaron
That Yellowstone/Yosemite match is a doozy of a 1st rounder. 1 of the favorites will be out in the first round. :)
Dirt In My Shoes
Haha I know! Can’t wait to see the results!
Connie Rue
This is great fun!! Thank you doing this and highlighting these parks. I love reading your reasoning in how you matched up the parks :-) I am unfamiliar with some of the choices, so I’ve had to read up on them, which is interesting. Plus, for parks I’ve been to, what a great reason to reminisce. Thanks and stay well!!
Dirt In My Shoes
You too, Connie. Thanks for playing!
Jan Hodge
Great fun, a good diversion! Thanks for keeping our brains busy!!
Dirt In My Shoes
Happy to :) Glad you’re enjoying it!
Sarah
This is great! May I have your permission to use this with my 4th graders as a part of our virtual learning? Thank you!
Dirt In My Shoes
Yes, no problem!
Steve Ramsey
Clever idea!
Dirt In My Shoes
Thanks!
Jon Swartley
Enjoy the idea of park madness brackets… our whole family intends to fill out a bracket and follow progress.
Dirt In My Shoes
That’s fantastic. Have fun!
Samuel Goss
Great idea, can’t wait to play
Dirt In My Shoes
Enjoy :)
Laura MACEY
Not being able to play my March madness brackets, this is going to be a fun replacement. Gotta go hike
Dirt In My Shoes
Haha me too! Good luck with your bracket!
Sheree
Hi Ashli! This will be fun to watch, I’m not on Facebook but I will be checking out the results.
I wish we were still seeing you in a few weeks, miss you, take care.
Sheree
Dirt In My Shoes
Miss you too. Hopefully we’ll make it out your direction again soon when all of this is over. At least we got to see you for a day!
Nichole
I am soooo very excited for this super fun diversion. I’m indefinitely working from home while schools are closed and loved your Yosemite itinerary. Looking forward to Utah’s National Parks in 2022! Thanks for a bright spot right now:)
Dirt In My Shoes
You’re welcome Nichole. I’m glad it’s going to be a fun diversion for you!
Kristen
This is awesome!!!
Dirt In My Shoes
Thanks!
Terri
I also did not see North Cascades.
Dirt In My Shoes
The bracket doesn’t have all 62 parks, just 32 of them :)
Terri
I did not see White Sands National Park on here. It was just added to the park system wasn’t it?
Jan Hodge
Great idea! A distraction to keep us hopeful until we can be out and about again! Thanks Ash!
Dirt In My Shoes
Of course — happy to do it!
