STEP FOUR: Book Your Lodging
>> Where should I stay? <<
Alright, you’re more than halfway there. Step Four is a fun one!
Let’s make your lodging reservations. I’m going to help you decide where you want to stay while visiting Bryce Canyon. After this task is complete, it’s official….you’re making your dream trip a reality!
So go ahead and get out the list you made in Step Three….the one that has the points of interest you want to visit divided up by region. Which region has the most activities? You’ll want to book your lodging near that area of the park.
If you can snag a reservation within the park, you’ll be close to everything. If you are unable to stay in the park, the towns of Bryce and Tropic are great options as well.
Click here to see the lodging options within the park. In-park lodging becomes available 13 months in advance, so if there’s no availability, you’ll need to consider options outside of the park near the entrance. There is only one entrance into the park, so here’s what you can expect from the nearby towns:
Bryce
The town of Bryce is just a stone’s throw from the park entrance. From here, you’re just a few minutes from Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, and the Rim Trail.
Here you’ll find a decent selection of hotels, activities, and restaurants {there’s even a summer rodeo}. This town is very small, so don’t expect much beyond the basics of what you will need for your vacation.
If you can snag a reservation here, you’ll be extremely pleased with the location!
Tropic
If you can’t get a reservation right outside of the park but are still hoping to be nearby, staying in the town of Tropic may be a good option for you.
Tropic is a short drive down the hill from the park entrance. You’ll be near the Mossy Cave Trail and the Tropic Trail {which is a back way into the park’s main amphitheater}.
This town has a few good restaurants, a small grocery store, and a nice small-town feel.
If you’re hoping for a more local experience while you’re in the area, you’ll find some lovely places to stay on AirBnB {get $40 off with this link}. Just search for something in Bryce, UT or Tropic, UT to stay close to the park.
Many people stay in the town of Panguitch, which is the “largest” small town in the area. There’s nothing wrong with staying here, but it will take you about 30 minutes to get to the park. Try to stay closer if you can, but if not, Panguitch is an ok choice.
In a popular park like Bryce Canyon, finding lodging can be a complex process. Start digging for the lodging that will best suit your needs and is as close to the park entrance as possible. Rooms sure can get snatched up fast so book your lodging ASAP!
